Swindon 2 Leicester 2

Corr and Cox grab a dramatic late point for Town

Coca-Cola League One

RESULT: Swindon Town 2 Leicester City 2

Town scorers: Cox 84, Corr 86
Leicester scorers: Oakley 57, Fryatt 74

The Town fans who walked out with six minutes to go missed a pulsating finish to this game.

At 2-0 down it looked all over for Swindon, after a stunning strike from Matt Oakley just before the hour mark and a second from Matt Fryatt had put Leicester in the driving seat.

But a close-range effort from Simon Cox in the 84th minute followed by an acrobatic finish by subsitute Barry Corr just a minute later turned the game on its head - and saved a point for stand-in manager Dave Byrne.

"We showed a real never-say-die attitude," Byrne told SwindonWeb.

"We deserved a point and I'm very pleased for the lads. They all worked hard out there.

"This result will give us a lot of confidence going into next week."

Split opinion on new manager

Andrew Fitton Swindon Town chairman
Undecided:
Town chairman
Andrew Fitton
Twenty four hours on from the dismissal of Maurice Malpas, Town fans appear to be split on who they think should be the new manager.

Bookies favourite Ian Holloway was entioned amongst other names such as Martin Keown, Colin Calderwood, Gary Speed, Ady Boothroyd and Ian Dowie in our SwindonWebTV vox pop after the game.

Town chairman Andrew Fitton stated clearly before kick-off that he wants a manager with the ability, above all else, 'to motivate the players'.

He also indicated that an appointment would be made 'relatively quickly' but that the Board would not be rushed into making a decision.
