Brave the sales with Thamesdown
Extra Swindon bus services this Christmas and New Year Bank Holidays
You may be just recovering from the onslaught of doing the last of the Christmas shopping - but the Xmas sales are just around the corner!
And Swindon’s shoppers can brave the Christmas sales with ease thanks to extra bus services over the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.
Monday 27, Tuesday 28 December and Monday 3 January
Bank holidays normally see the buses run on a reduced Sunday service across the town. However, on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December and Monday 3 January, Thamesdown will be putting on more buses on certain routes to ferry shoppers to the town centre.
Services 1/1A, 13/14 and 17 will be running every ten minutes, whilst services 2, 11 (to Haydon Wick and Old Town only) and 15/15A will be running every 15 minutes.
Service 29 will run every 20 minutes, service 16 will run every 30 minutes and services 19 and 24 will run every 60 minutes.
“With Christmas Day and Boxing Day falling at the weekend this year it’s a four day break for many people and we expect the demand for bus travel to the shops to be heavy on 27 and 28 December," commented Managing director of Thamesdown Paul Jenkins.
"By providing these enhanced services instead of the usual Sunday timetables, we hope to encourage more people to consider using the buses to see just how easy and stress-free it can be to get into town.”
