You Can Run - But Not For Local Charities!
From next year all Swindon Half-Marathon money raised must go to the sponsors - is this right?
Hundreds of runners will take part in the 9th Swindon Half-Marathon this Sunday - the last to be sponsored by Nationwide.
For years, those taking on the tough 13.1 mile course and fun runs have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities.
The Prospect Hospice, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, CALM and many more have all benefitted.
But from next year, the British Heart Foundation [BHF] have taken over from Swindon Borough Council as the organisers and will become lead sponsors - but with one surprise stipulation.
All the money raised by those taking part must exclusively go to them.
Runners won't be able to choose their charity. It must be the British Heart Foundation.
So we ask: is this right?
