Hundreds gather to say farewell to a true Swindonian
There were smiles as well as tears at St. Mary's Church in Rodbourne yesterday (25 June) for a final farewell to former Swindon mayor Rex Barnett.
The popular 74-year-old sadly died after a long battle with mesothelioma on June 11.
Those attending a special service to remember Rex included fellow councillors, former work colleagues, local dignitaries, friends and, of course, family.
"Just talking about Rex and remembering his life can't help but put a smile on your face," said his wife Sandra, "but we all miss him so much. He was a truly great man."
