Hundreds line the streets to honour fallen soldiers

 

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Wootton Bassett today in honour of the four latest victims killed in Afghanistan.

Rifleman Aminiasi Toge, 26, Corporal Joseph Etchells, 22, Captain Daniel Shepherd, 28, and Guardsman Christopher King, 20, died in separate incidents in Helmand.

This brings the total of 191 service personnel who have died in the conflict since 2001.
 

Relatives of the dead stood side by side with British Legion veterans, shopkeepers and residents who gathered in the high street to pay their respects.

 

Flowers

 

A minute's silence was held as the cortege of the four coffins passed the town's war memorial, where onlookers threw flowers at the hearses, before the bodies proceeded to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital.
