Swindon celebrates St George's Day
Swindon's giant St. George parades through the town centre + a whole day of entertainment
Swindon's 20ft high figure of England’s patron saint proudly paraded through the town centre this weekend to celebrate St George's Day.
The giant statue surprised shoppers as it led a procession from Regent Street to Wharf Green via Canal Walk.
The giant then took centre stage for a full day of entertainment including bands such as The BiSkitts, The Fixed and Swindon's first Samba band; solo artists including Eden Golding and 2010 Swindon Talent contestant stars.
The main event also included live displays from the Britannia Majorettes and the Swindon Air Cadets.
The show closed with the U3A choir and a few renditions of some traditional favourites including Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia.
