Keith Chegwin will be starring in Swindon’s pantomime, Cinderella

 

Wey Hey: Keith Chegwin will be star of this years panto

The Wyvern Theatre announced today that Keith Chegwin will be starring in Swindon’s pantomime, Cinderella, this year as Buttons.

 

Starting his early career on the West End Stage and in numerous films including Polanski’s Macbeth he then went on to start his long career in children’s television, becoming a household name.

 

For 11 years he was the face of Saturday morning TV as one of the main presenters of Multi-Coloured Swap Shop and Saturday Superstore, as well as his own iconic kids show Cheggers Plays Pop.

 

Keith Chegwin has been a regular face on TV ever since including presenting The Big Breakfast for two and a half years and then GMTV which he worked on for seven years, during which time he has knocked on over 250 doors from Lands End to John O’Groats.

 

In 2006 he returned to acting when he appeared in the TV series Extras opposite Ricky Gervais and Orlando Bloom.

 

"I am so looking forward to spending my Christmas with the people of Swindon - I love a good family Panto - loads of laughs and I promise not sing too much! However, I might tap dance, move over Ann Widdecombe! Just can't wait for to get started. Wish I could buy a ticket to watch it. Wey Hey!” comented Keith.
