The Comeback King
Silver medallist sailor gives inspiring talk to Swindon schoolchildren
This week the National Trust hosted an afternoon lecture with two-time Olympic sailor Joe Glanfield.
Pupils from The Commonweal School in Swindon attended the talk, and heard about Glanfield's inspiring experience in last year’s Olympics in Bejing where he and his partner, Nick Rogers, clinched a dramatic silver medal, coming back from sitting 4th overall overnight to a dramatic second in the final medal race.
Glanfield,30, and Rogers are known in sailing circles as the 'come-back kings' for turning round seemingly hopeless racing positions.
Never give up
During the visit Joe also gave advice on how to become an Olympic winner, and talking through the reality and hard work behind reaching his level at sailing.
