Trouble brewing at the County Ground

Is this Paul Sturrock's last game in charge?

Speculation was rife around the County Ground today that manager Paul Sturrock was set to leave to take over as the new Plymouth boss.

Although the club denied such rumours, fans that turned out to see Town beat arch-rivals Bristol Rovers were clearly troubled by the talk of yet another management change - the fifth in a little over two years.

Sturrock himself refused to rule out a move, prefering not to comment on what he described as 'pure speculation'.

Is this Sturrock's last press conference?

“Could you blame him,” said Jim Goddfrey, supporter of the Town for 40 years.

“With the trouble going on at this club, with nobody knowing whose in charge I’d be on a train to Plymouth too!”

Despite the trouble within the fan base, Sturrock was still holding his position as manager as he led the team out for their match against Rovers this afternoon - a game that saw Town triumph 1-0 and finish with only nine players.
