Swindon Town 1 Barnet 1
Swindon's reward, should they beat Barnet in their third round replay, will be a fourth round home tie against... Bristol Rovers or Fulham! Town's west-country rivals having secured a replay of their own, when Rovers battled to a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage. The two teams meet again at the Memorial Ground on 15th January. Town travel to Barnet on the same night.
F.A. Cup Third Round
RESULT: Swindon Town 1 Barnet 1
Swindon scorer: Sturrock 60
Barnet scorer: Birchall 85
Swindon will rue a number of missed chances as a late goal from Adam Birchall earned Barnet a replay in the F.A. Cup Third Round.
Having lost both their first choice strikers, Town's caretaker bosses Dave Byrne and Ady Williams were forced to make changes to the team that played so well against Swansea.
Swindon had a number of chances, but none better than captain Hasney Aljofree who will probably feel he should have done better with a back post header just before the half-time whistle.
Second-Half Action
But once again it was the second-half that saw all the goals, something that for some reason has typified Swindon of late.
The home team finally taking a deserved lead on the hour mark when the impressive Blair Sturrock was on hand to nod the ball home form close range.
However, Swindon fans were left disappointed when in the 85th minute substitute Adam Birchall did well to control keeper Robert Beckwith's punt down field, before curling the ball past Peter Brezovan into the top corner. A late goal that earned the visitors a replay at Underhill in ten days time and also a place in the fourth round draw on Monday. Both sides will no doubt be hoping to draw one of the big Premiership sides in the next round, something that will no doubt give the return fixture some added spice.
