Tree-mendous!
Festive first on the Swindon magic roundabout
There's a new guiding light for motorists driving over the Swindon magic roundabout - a 50ft Christmas tree.
Officially unveiled by Council leader Rod Bluh tonight, the Norwegian spruce is illuminated by 12 strips containing over 5,000 individual lights, and is the first time the famous landmark has been decorated for the festive period.

An initial attempt to erect a tree in the middle of the roundabout on Sunday morning ended in farce when Council workmen tried for over two and a half hours before giving up after the base broke (see link below).
But a much-relieved Mr Bluh was delighted with the final outcome.
"I think it looks fantastic," he told us, "and a real credit to everyone involved that helped to get it organised in such a short time."
"Hopefully we can do this every year."
