Plan 500 celebrates creation of 250 opportunities for young people in Swindon - SWTV WITH NICK HEWER
Employers and business leaders got the opportunity to hear the benefits of taking on an apprentice this morning as part of the Plan 500 scheme, which lends support to 16 – 24 year olds in Swindon by creating 500 work related opportunities by October 2011.
Guest speaker Nick Hewer, Lord Alan Sugar’s right hand man on The Apprentice, spoke of the importance of the scheme and how it can benefit the business as well as the apprentice.
“it’s vitally important for businesses to take on apprenticeships,” Nick told us, “it’s not often you can take on a young person with as much enthusiasm and drive helps not only the apprentice, but it injects enthusiasm into any organisation or business.”
At the breakfast event local employers also heard from Bill Cotton, Director of Economic Development, Forward Swindon and Steve Blore, Chairman of Plan 500 Opportunities.
