In this delightful comedy by William Douglas-Home, aristocratic couple Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent are presenting their daughter, Jane, to society and have their eyes set on the perfect husband for her...

Unfortunately, Sheila accidentally sets their daughter up with David Hoylake-Johnstone (who has a reputation as a philanderer) instead of David Bullock (whom she believes to be the perfect match for her daughter).

Sheila is afraid that if Jane is involved in a scandal with David Hoylake-Johnstone (something it is rumoured he's been involved in before), she will lose her chance and finding a good husband.

But Sheila can't be rude to him because of a few rumours, especially since she has unintentionally invited him to dinner with Jane!
