Hamlet: "...Methinks 'tis like a weasel..." – Is Hamlet mad? Well, you're totally entitled to your own opinion... You could say he is: he's seeing ghosts, talking strangely, having paranoid episodes, and he certainly goes to pieces over his girlfriend's betrayal... But other than the ghost, isn't that only to be expected...? And as for the ghost, he isn't the only one who saw something... What he says throughout is always pertinent, intelligent, and with only a few exceptions, makes total sense. Obviously, he's depressed, in grief, confused, and of the sort of mind that gets lost in thought... But does that make him "mad"...? |
