Sixty-something otherwise bored and fidgety 13 year olds were held fascinated for at least ten minutes or so by a well-rehearsed, well-acted set-piece...
And ever since, I've wanted to direct Hamlet.
And it's all there... in the text. Shakespeare (he's my dad – sometimes it works!) really knew what he was doing when he borrowed and copied and stole and altered and adapted and wrote the various parts of this play... It isn't just elitism or fashion or because everyone before says so that this play remains to this day one of the greatest plays ever written... |
