The King has two women in his life – his wife, and his mistress, Alais. The latter is played by OTTC newcomer, Sophie Wallis. "I think both Alais and I dreamt of being a fairy tale Queen in our childhoods and whilst she got a little closer to that than I have, I can't say I envy her messy situation. I think she deserves a lot of sympathy, but she's not soft either. It's fun to see her wise up to Henry - ironically, in a way that only he could have taught her!"
