Dennis is wrestling with what we might all call a mid-life crisis. For the moment, we'll just say he's up to some 'strange behaviour' as a way of venting his frustration at the stifling normality of his life. Ashley says, "I think it's true that Dennis does feel trapped by the urban trappings of his life, and desperately wants to 'stop the world and get off' but like so many of us – will he actually do anything about it?
