Sometimes, we need a little inspiration. Hopefully, the following links and articles will be of use. It's a selection of links to publishers, other festivals, and some theatre outlets which deal with one-acts. It's neither exhaustive, nor exclusive, so please just pick and choose; do a bit of digging and some light might dawn! Have a search under 'one acts plays' and see what emerges! All England Theatre FestivalHave a look at the dates section to see what's won where! Avon DramaAnother site which lists festivals and what performed and won. Samuel FrenchThis well known publisher is always worth a look. Doollee.comType in 'one act plays' on the search window, keeping it to Doollee, and you'll wind up at their One Act Depot. The StageThe UK's best known theatrical newspaper. Go to the front page, type in 'one act plays' and see what's in the news! Lazybee ScriptsA lot to go at here. Look for one acts on the front page and take it from there. Hanbury PlaysIf you're looking for a youth group play. Jimmy BrunelleAnother one for the groups looking for younger performances. For HJ inclusion, your best bet is the teens and high school selection. Stageplays.comVery friendly; you can search for one act plays in the genres, right off the front page. CressrellesReasonably priced for one act performances. Go to the catalogue section and look for one act plays. You'll find a downloadable list of their plays. ScriptcircleThis site allows you to download the entire script to see if you like it. Look for the search area on the front page, and then you'll find one-acts. Click on that, read a précis and then download. Don't forget to pay the man though! Theatre HistoryNot the biggest selection of one-acts by any means, but that means it won't take you too long to check out! Look for 'Script Archive' down at the bottom of the page. One-acts are in there... StagepageThe site for plays by G L Horton. Look for one acts on the front page. Horton's plays have been well received at HJ in the past. |
