René is played by Julian Smith, a Development Engineer from Swindon.
He's been in OTTC for many years now and is thoroughly enjoying his
latest role! "As someone who grew up with it on the box - without ever
really watching it - it's been interesting for me to see it up close, like
suddenly noticing a pattern on some familiar wallpaper", he says.
"It's been hard not to do a straightforward impersonation, which I
wouldn't be good at anyway, so I've concentrated on the script rather than
watch lots of old episodes. I hope the end result is something that the
audience will find enjoyably familiar!" added Julian.
His long suffering wife, Edith, is played by Wendy Vickery, a Senior
Marketing Executive from The Lawns.
"Edith isn't the woman René married - he's worried she's turning into
her mother, 'The Old Bat Upstairs!", says Wendy!
