Bonjour!
René has more problems than he can shake an onion at...
His café is full of Germans - who he has to be nice to;
His wife Edith - who he also has to be nice to - constantly wants to
sing... badly;
He has two British airmen hiding in his cellar;
Michelle of the resistance wants him to help them escape;
Herr Flick of the Gestapo wants his painting of the Fallen Madonna with
the Big Boobies and Colonel von Strohm wants the same painting.
Matters are only made worse by the fact that the new district
commander, General von Schmelling, wants this very painting to give to Adolf
Hitler when he visits the cafe!
Armed with that slender piece of information, the Colonel, Herr Flick
and the resistance all come up with reasons to impersonate the Fuhrer!
With all this going on in his café, René faces the prospect of being
shot by the Germans, the Resistance - or his wife!
In fact, only his randy relationships with his beautiful waitresses,
Yvette and Mimi, are enough to keep him going!
Created by David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd, Allo Allo first hit our TV
screens in December 1982. Although based on the highly successful drama
series Secret Army,
it was definitely a comedy send up.
The programme ran for 86 episodes over nine series before finally
bowing out in 1992.
Allo Allo is still enjoying countless re runs and is one of the most
popular and successful sitcoms of all time.
OTTC has brought together a talented cast, over two thirds of whom are
new to the company, to bring this hilarious comedy to the Swindon Arts
Centre stage for an extended four night run.
