Director's Review

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this production was a success and I have to say that I very much enjoyed directing.

This was my first full directorial debut; there were new members, old members, members I had never worked with, and we pulled together and put our all into making this production work.

The play was suggested to me and, personally, I would have chosen a play with fewer cast members for the popping of my directorial cherry. One I had at the very least, read before agreeing to direct! Nevertheless, we plugged on and created what I personally like to call ‘The Felix Circle of Trust'. (OK, I robbed it, but it's true, everything I asked was delivered, lines were mysteriously learnt on time and each rehearsal was a pleasure.)

Another big plus for me was getting to fully understand OTTC from behind the curtain. Being in a few of the productions over the last 18 months in no way prepared me for the amount of effort that is put into each and every one of our productions. I was invited to committee meetings, spent a fortune on my mobile and was still alive to enjoy Christmas and New Year.

One negative note, and I will not waste too much time on this, was the press review, which was disappointing. But, as the reviewer would, I'm sure, acknowledge, it was one person's view, and maybe this reflected 2% of the total audience view if the letters of congratulation I've received are anything to go by. It still leaves a whopping 98% of very happy, satisfied people, who had an enjoyable evening that got them prepared for their very own Christmas and who I am sure we will see again at our 2007 productions.

And as David Gray said "Sell, Sell, Sell".

Paul Felix (P.Dici), Director
