Algy's love interest, Cecily Cardew, is played by Melanie Bowler. "She's another fantastic character", says Melanie. "Young, bookwise and ambitious but not at all experienced! She's always excited and excitable! Great fun to play!" Having said that, Melanie reckons there's a deeper side to Cecily. "Oh yes – after all, she's been raised by guardians, not her parents. That makes her a really sympathetic character, I think; she must have been very strong to come through that and still have a smile on her face!"
