The Vagina Monologues

Vagina Monologues’ Grand Night Out

Members of Old Town Theatre Company met at La Casita restaurant in Swindon's Old Town on Friday, 10 June 2005, to present Wiltshire Victim Support with a cheque for £915.44, which they raised from their benefit production of 'The Vagina Monologues' in February. The money will be used to help run the charity’s Rape Support Helpline.

Rosemary Curtis, from Wiltshire Victim Support was there to accept the cheque on their behalf. 'The Rape Crisis Service operates solely on fund raising and donations so the money OTTC raised is hugely welcome', said Rosemary. 'It is wonderful to be able to accept this cheque and know that it really will help us to run this very important local service.'

Fenella Harrop, organiser of V-Day Swindon 2005, handed the cheque over at a special dinner which saw cast and crew reunited for the first time since the February performance. Fenella, who also performed in and directed the play said, 'We had such a fantastic time performing this amazing play and it's even more rewarding knowing that through this we have been able to help Victim Support's Rape Crisis Service. The message of the show is that violence against women and children must stop and we hope that some good will come from the money we raised. We would like to thank everyone involved in putting on the show and all the people who came to see it for their contribution.
