How easy will it be to clean?
If you don't want to waste time worrying about stains on the carpet, get a surface that'll repel moisture and probably only need a going over once a week with a bit of flash.
It sounds obvious, but is your kitchen the main way in and out of the house?
Do you mainly eat in the kitchen? And what about pets?
Remember, the kitchen is meant to be the hub of the home, so don't make people feel uncomfortable there fearing making a mess.
Do I want underfloor heating?
Kitchen's can be cold places - especially in the morning - so why not add some underfloor heating while you're replacing the floor?
A well-insulated environment can cost between £12 and £14 per m2 per year, which means your kitchen could cost as little 8p per day to heat.
What feels best under my feet?
If you're the person that'll be using it the most, make sure you feel comfortable with your choice.
Are young children going to be about?
Safety in the kitchen is very important. A fall on a softer floor can be far less harmful than one onto stone or tiles.
