The Extraordinary Revelations of Orca the Goldfish

Rehearsal Update

“It’s a comedy of manners!”

That’s how ‘Orca’ director, Mike Bull (pictured, below) sums up OTTC’s entry in the 2005 One Act Play Festival.

Telling the story of a delusion husband and his long suffering wife, Mike says it’s a great play. “It’s about the way people live their lives of fantasy and find them deflated in moments of crisis.”

Performing on the penultimate evening of this year’s festival, this show is a two hander – one man and one woman. Henry Smith is played by Lance Hodges with the part of Alice going to Wendy Vickery.

Mike tells us why he wanted to enter this play.

“I like the dialogue. It’s a wonderful opportunity for two actors to expand and push themselves – with me taken along.”

“I want every meaning squeezed out of every line. Especially those key lines – the important lines that help to convince you that these two actors are really the couple they’re pretending to be. If we get those key lines and moments right – all else follows.”

Something to look forward to then, but it’s in a festival after all – with a winner to be found. Can Orca win? Mike has only one word to answer that one...

“Certainly!”
