The Old Town Theatre Company returned to the Harold Jolliffe One Act Play Festival with a bang on 19 February 2005 – we took the honours for:
The Betty Peck Rose Bowl for Best Play:
The Extraordinary Revelations of Orca the Goldfish by David Tristram
The Audrey Suter Trophy for Best Actor:
Lance Hodges
The Audrey Suter Trophy for Best Actress:
Wendy Vickery
Well done to all involved; not only Lance and Wendy but also Orca’s director, Mike Bull and Stage Manager, Janet Lovell.
All have been working extremely hard on this festival entry - at the time of writing, Lance is also directing OTTC’s A Few Good Men, in April!
Adjudicating this year’s festival, Marie O’Sullivan offered her praise and congratulations as well as some considered observations on how the performance could be improved. It’s with that advice in mind that the team must now continue rehearsals for the next round, which will be held at:
The Warehouse Theatre
Ilminster
Somerset
On Saturday, 23 April 2005 at 2.00pm and 7.30pm.
Good luck, Orca!
And honourable mentions must go to our friends at The Athelstan Players in Malmesbury. Bob Charman headed a strong cast to bring 'What’s for Pudding' (coincidentally by the Orca author, David Tristram!) to the Arts Centre stage.
Well done, Athelstan’s on bagging...
The Old Swindonian Cup for Runners-up:
What’s For Pudding by David Tristram
The Cheshire Trophy for Best Supporting Actress:
Pat Castle
The Lester Trophy for Best Supporting Actor:
James White
