Playing Baptista, Kate and Bianca's father, is Bob Charman (Foreground). He's enjoying his latest OTTC show - his fifth since joining in June 2000!

"It's a master class in negotiation skills, set within romantic comedy", says Bob. "I hope the audience will laugh, see something of themselves, and appreciate all its meaning - and the cast!"

Baptista is, according to Bob, a conniving patriarch and adept politician, masked behind bumbling pragmatism. He has underlying affection for his daughters, and ultimately for their suitors, but this can be lost whilst resisting unwelcome approaches.

Echoing his director's attitude towards acting out Shakespeare, Bob thinks it's easier the more you do.

"The lines and language were daunting at first sight, but are a breeze to learn - this Shakespeare bloke obviously knows his stuff!"
