Michael Bull. He's been directing for OTTC for longer than he, or anyone else in the company, cares to remember! Like Lance, his last Shakespearean outing for OTTC was Macbeth. Mike has very strong visions of each of his plays and Taming of the Shrew is no different.
"We must get around the fact that it's Shakespeare", he says. "With some actors new to the genre, there's sometimes this mental block that says because it's Shakespeare, it's got to be more complicated."
"That's not how it needs to be at all - acting Shakespeare is like acting anyone else's work, modern or classic. If you know what the line actually means then you can put that across on stage."
